BoI facilitates US $ 230m ‘waste to energy’ plant

The BOI signed an agreement worth US$ 230 million with the Malaysian-Bahraini joint venture Orizon Renewable Energy Private Ltd to build a ‘waste to energy’ plant. The plant will be built on a 20-acre land at Kahatamedawelyaya, Muthurajawela, in the Gampaha District, Western Province. The project agreement was signed by board members of the BOI, Channa Palansuriya and Upali Samaraweera, Secretary Ministry of Environmental Affairs and Natural Resources, Jayathilake, and Executive Director of Octogon Consolidated Berhad and Director of Orizon Renewable Energy Private Limited, Mrs. Siti Fatima Mohamed Shariff.
