Himani, a founding Attorney of the firm is Partner and head of Intellectual Property Law. With more than 22 years’ experience in the profession, Himani has played a key role in making Sudath Perera Associates a top-tier law firm in Sri Lanka. The firm boasts several global renowned brands as clients, for whom Himani has advised and successfully managed IPR prosecution and enforcement in Sri Lanka.
Starting her practice in commercial litigation, Himani worked as an Associate on several high-profile cases with leading Counsel in Sri Lanka. She later focused on intellectual property law on a full-time basis and was instrumental in setting up the firm’s Brand Protection and Enforcement practice, which has grown to become a leader in this field in Sri Lanka. Himani manages a team of Attorneys working on large trademark portfolios for both local and international clients, patent prosecution and domain name disputes. In addition to intellectual property, Himani advises on commercialization of innovations, manufacturing and licensing agreements, franchise arrangements and regulatory matters for pharma, media and food & beverage companies.
Himani is a member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, Colombo Law Society, American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka, International Trademark Association (INTA) Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and an Associate member of European Community of Trademark Attorneys (ECTA).
