Sudath is the Founder and Managing Partner of Sudath Perera Associates. He deems the establishment of the firm in 2002 as his greatest professional achievement. Sudath was called to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in the year 1991 and draws from over 25 years of legal experience. As a consequence, Sudath is proficient across all variations of the law and is well equipped to combat any legal issues. His expertise and drive to conquer all complex legal challenges has resulted in him building a practice that is truly a One – Stop – Shop for legal advice.
Prior to the creation of Sudath Perera Associates, he was at the core of the inception of several key departments including Litigation, Intellectual Property, Labour and Employment and Conveyancing as a Partner at his previous firm.
Sudath is universally described as a solution based attorney. His focus on providing clients with effective, precise and efficient solutions to any legal issue is renowned. Dubbed the “counterfeit buster of Sri Lanka”, Sudath is the pioneer in the Sri Lankan spectrum of Brand Protection and Anti- Counterfeiting. Sudath stems from a background in hospitality and it is no wonder that he has on multiple occasions, been bestowed with the converted “Client’s Choice Award” in recognition of his exceptional client care.
Sudath sits as Chairman of the Board of Directors in over 15 companies in Sri Lanka and served as a Director of the Export Development Board.
He is also an active member of several key legal representative Bodies in Sri Lanka and the world over, inclusive of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, the International Bar Association, the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, the International Trademark Association and the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals.
Sudath has developed his belief not only in listening to and understanding the needs of his client but also his distinctive negotiation skills through experience with not only his clients but also his triplet daughters. As an avid lover of animals, Sudath enjoys his free time by reveling in wildlife photography and travelling.
