Kasun is a Partner at Sudath Perera Associates. He joined the Firm in 2016 and he is attached to the Criminal Defence Litigation. Kasun possesses the expertise in criminal litigation mainly in relation to Food and Consumer Laws, Intellectual Property Law, White Collar Crimes, Frauds and also prosecutions under special laws (i.e., Environmental Laws, Urban and Provincial Council Laws, Labour (Criminal) Laws, Primary Court Procedure etc.)
After having passed G.C.E. A/L examinations achieving the Mahapola (Merit) Scholarship for academic excellence, Kasun obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honors from the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2015. After completing the final examination of Sri Lanka Law College, he was called to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2017. While occupied as a criminal law practitioner, he obtained a Masters in Human Rights (MHR) from the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2023.
Currently, Kasun is contributing as a ‘Visiting Lecturer’ at the Faculty of Business Studies and Finance, University of Wayamba, Sri Lanka and he also contributed as a Content Developer for the subject of Human Rights B.Sc. Honours in Financial Analytics and Risk Management degree programme proposed by the same university in 2020. Further, he was a member of the editorial committee of the first official Sinhalese law journal of Bar Association of Sri Lanka published in 2022.
Apart from his engagement in the field of Law, he is a human rights activist who has worked with many well-known Non-Government Organizations and at the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, a blogger and a freelance journalist. Kasun enjoys playing Carrom and at the university, he was awarded University Colours for being a member of the University Carrom Team which became the 1st Runners up in the Sri Lanka University Games in 2014, and Kasun has also achieved the Runners-Up place in Carrom (Mixed - Double) event at the Sports Gala of Bar Association of Sri Lanka in 2018.
