WEBINAR – EXPORTING TO THE UNITED STATES: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FROM A SRI LANKAN PERSPECTIVE
The United States is Sri Lanka’s largest export market and accounts for nearly $3 billion of the approximately $13 billion of goods Sri Lanka exports annually. U.S. imports from Sri Lanka are mostly apparel, but also include tea, rubber, coconut, industrial supplies, gemstones, petroleum products, food & beverages, seafood and chemicals. While the trade relationship between the two countries is growing and diversifying, many Sri Lankan exporters, even those with years of experience, do not fully appreciate the challenges, complexities, and even potential risks that attach to the import compliance framework enforced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on behalf of approximately 50 other federal agencies (FDA, USDA, EPA, CPSC, etc.). Nor, by the same token, do Sri Lankan exporters fully appreciate the opportunities and benefits that can flow from U.S. trade preference programs such as the GSP.
This webinar, organised by Sudath Perera Associates (https://lnkd.in/gjn6N45A) with the participation of international trade experts from leading US law firm Harris Bricken Sliwoski LLP (www.harrisbricken.com), will focus on some of the common legal & regulatory issues faced by Sri Lankan exporters and offer practical information and strategies on successfully exporting to the United States.
